Drag N Drive radial tire record smashed at Sick Week 2024
Brett LaSala brought his snot rocket 2.0 to Sick Week 2024 with high expectations. Those expectations were not only met, but may have even been exceeded The car has been a radial tire monster for quite some time. His team has worked very hard to set and reset the bar when it comes to radial tire 1/4 mile racing. His Sick Week best ets each day were as follows:
Day 1: 6.359 @ 228.19mph
Day 2: 6.294 @ 227.00mph
Day 3: 6.495 @ 226.73mph
Day 4: 6.290 @ 227.04mph
Day 5: 6.263 @ 227.19mph
Average: 6.34020@ 227.23mph
He started off day 1 by setting the radial tire record with a 6.35 @ 228.19mph. This record would not stand for long as he would proceed to reset that record 3 more times during the week. Finishing the week off with a 6.26 @ 227.19mph. This stellar performance earned him not only a modified win, but the overall win as well.
It's not common that a car not in the unlimited category has won overall at a major drag n drive event, but it has happened before.
A major competitor to Brett in the modified category unfortunately had an engine failure on day 1 of Sick Week. Devin Vanderhoof and Josh Davis in their 1993 Ford Mustang convertible looked strong on day 1 running a 6.41 but unfortunately could not continue beyond that. It will be exciting to see both of these cars together at another event to see them battle it out for radial tire supremacy in the drag n drive world.
