Will online vehicle buying platforms put brick and mortar dealerships out of business?
It seems like everyday you cruise the internet you see another platform for buying and selling cars. Some brick and mortar dealerships may be feeling the pinch from these "Zillows of the automotive world". However do you think that this is a trend that will continue and shut down the dealership world as we know it?
My take on this is we all want easy and quick. The traditional dealership buying experience is an absolute waste of time. Nobody wants to spend hours doing paperwork and listen to someone trying to upsell them a product that person doesn't even use (i.e. Simoniz). The only reason they are selling it to me is because they get a big spiff on pushing a product that does nothing but line the pockets of the company pushing it.
This may not completely eliminate dealerships but it will certainly force the dealership model to make a shift to a more friendly customer experience. Tell us about your worst dealership experience in the comments.
